Fundamentals of Strength Training 101

January 6, 2024

9:00 am - 12:00pm

Dance Connection
3117 N Clybourn Ave. Chicago, IL

Hello Friend! My name is Angel Casas and I am a Weight-Inclusive, Non-Diet Personal Trainer. My mission is to make Health & Fitness more inclusive and accessible, especially for those that hold marginalized identities such as the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and Fat Acceptance community.

As a DEI advocate in the Fitness Industry, I first hand see how Personal Training and Health Coaching is mostly accessible for the financially privileged. I want to change that. I am proud to offer equitable pricing to make services accessible to all and now I am excited to share that I am putting together this event that promotes said inclusivity.

This Wellness event is dedicated to teaching underserved folks the fundamentals of Strength Training as well as the intersection of Fitness, Eating Disorders and Mental Health. We will have a panel of Guest Speakers that includes Registered Dieticians and Mental Health experts in their field, discussing Diet Culture and how we can practice Mindfulness and Intuitive Eating. There will also be a hands-on clinic portion to the event where we will be doing a live workout, showing everyone how to build small but mighty habits for long lasting change. We will conclude the event with grounding and mindfulness skills to connect with our bodies.

The event will be held on Saturday January 6th from 9am-12pm. The venue will be at Dance Connection in the Roscoe Village neighborhood. What makes this event so special is that we are doing specific community outreach to invite folks that hold marginalized identities as well as offer them the Workshop at no cost to them. Due to the Venue having limited space, we also only have a limited 20 spots available.

If you have recieved this invitation, then you are one of our Special Guests. As a Special Guest you are allowed to bring up to (2) additional guests with you. Since we only have 20 spots, please confirm with me by registering with this link as soon as possible.

Get ready for one incredible event. Our goal is to have a LIVE DJ, music, dancing fun and so much more! Thank you for your support in bringing awareness to the benefits of Strength Training to marginalized folks.

I look forward to seeing you!
